South Carolina has announced its spring schedule with key dates for the start of spring practice set for March 15.

The Gamecocks said Wednesday that the Garnet and Black game is set for April 16, and the annual Pro Timing Day is set for Friday, March 18.

The Gamecocks are coming off a win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte to finish the season 7-6, and 3-5 in the SEC. The 7 wins was their high mark since they won 7 games in the 2018 season, and it surpassed the Gamecocks’ win total of the two previous seasons combined (6).

The 38-21 win over North Carolina was the 10th bowl win in school history and the first since defeating Michigan in the 2018 Outback Bowl.

The Gamecocks have significantly upgraded their roster through the addition of QB Spencer Rattler, along with NFL-eligible players electing to return for the 2022 season.

Juju McDowell and MarShawn Lloyd should be key players on offense, along with Vershon Lee, Jovaughn Gwyn and Tyshawn Wannamaker. For the defensive front, Zacch Pickens, Jordan Burch, T.J. Sanders and Mo Kaba are among the key players back. Nick Barrett is a 300-pounder who saw time in 9 games, so that’s solid experience.

Linebacker Brad Johnson, safety R.J. Roderick and linebacker Sherrod Greene will also return for the second season under Shane Beamer.
