It has been a big day for South Carolina on the recruiting trail. In a matter of minutes, the Gamecocks landed commitments from 4-star Conway, South Carolina DT Tonka Hemingway and 3-star Reeltown (Alabama) TE Eric Shaw.

Listed at 6-3, 255 pounds, Hemingway is rated the No. 4 South Carolina product, No. 28 defensive tackle and No. 306 prospect overall nationally in the 2020 class on the 247Sports Composite. Hemingway has 13 scholarship offers, but had narrowed his choices down to North Carolina, Duke and the home-state Gamecocks. Hemingway announced his commitment from Conway High School, which was live-streamed via media outlets including Gamecock Central.

Tight ends coach Bobby Bentley’s Alabama connections appeared to pay off in landing Shaw, from Notasulga, Alabama. Shaw revealed. Shaw is listed at 6-4, 210 pounds and rated the No. 15 ATH, No. 18 Alabama product and No. 367 prospect overall nationally on the Composite.
