The South Carolina Gamecocks held their first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium, and coach Will Muschamp was happy with what he saw.

Though it’s still months before the 2018 season starts, this is a great opportunity to get a look at the roster and see what his players can do.

Muschamp told reporters following the scrimmage that the Gamecocks did some good things, but it was mostly just about shaking off the winter’s rust.

“There have been some young guys who have continued to progress and get better, and that’s what we need to do,” he said. “It was the first time out and I thought the guys embraced it and did a good job for us. It was exciting to see.”
