Dillon Gabriel and the UCF Knights lost on a last-second interception against Louisville on Friday night.

That interception, in addition to costing the Knights the win, also apparently cost them their starting quarterback.

Gabriel took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to reveal that he broke his clavicle on the play. He said he won’t need surgery, but there is no timetable for his return:

That’s obviously bad news for coach Gus Malzahn and the Knights, as Gabriel is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the conference.

Prior to his injury, Gabriel had thrown for 808 yards, 9 touchdowns and 3 picks so far in 2021. Now, we’ll see if Joey Gatewood, the former Auburn and Kentucky quarterback, gets a chance to start.
