Manny Diaz wasn’t out of a job long after Miami fired him earlier this week.

Diaz was hired at Penn State as defensive coordinator, the Nittany Lions announced on Saturday morning. Diaz will replace Brent Pry, who recently took the head coaching job at Virginia Tech.

Diaz led the Hurricanes to a 21-15 record in 3 seasons. The program hired Oregon coach Mario Cristobal this week to replace him.

A Penn State release said Diaz, who has 24 years of collegiate coaching experience, including three as a head coach and 13 as a defensive coordinator, joins the Nittany Lions after spending six seasons (2016-21) at Miami, including 3 seasons as head coach (2019-21).
