Mario Cristobal met with Oregon players on Monday morning.

According to reports from that meeting, he told the Ducks players that he was leaving the school to become the new head coach at Miami.

Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported the news on Twitter shortly after news that Miami had parted ways with Manny Diaz broke:

Cristobal has major ties to the Miami area, so it’s no surprise he feels the urge to come back to his roots.

But, the way Miami handled the Diaz situation will leave many around the country with a sour taste in their mouths. Now, we’ll see where the Ducks turn in their looming coaching search.

Cristobal finished his 4-year Oregon career (plus 1 game in 2017) with a record of 35-13. He led the Ducks to a Rose Bowl win in 2019.
