Jimmy Lake may be going from suspended coach to fired coach, according to a report from Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

The Washington coach, who was suspended following a physical incident with a player 2 weeks ago, is expected to be fired on Sunday. The school will not fire him for cause and plans to pay out the remainder of his buyout, which is subject to offset, Thamel reported.

Lake received discipline from Washington following an incident on the sideline of the game 2 weeks ago against Oregon when he made contact with a player. The incident involved LB Ruperake Fuavai as the Washington head coach was caught on the TV broadcast hitting Fuavai in the facemask after he got into it with an Oregon player.

UW’s second-year coach was suspended without pay for the Arizona State game on Saturday.

Also in recent days, The Seattle Times reported that Lake faced accusations he shoved a player in 2019, a claim in denied in a statement.
