Scott Frost is already one of the coaches most likely to be on the hot seat as the college football season begins. Now the Nebraska coach is facing another dose of adversity.

Frost is under NCAA investigation for improper use of analysts, sources told Brett McMurphy of the Action Network. Also, during the pandemic, Nebraska held unauthorized off-campus workouts under staff’s direction to avoid detection by school officials, sources said.

The Nebraska athletics department is also under new leadership as Frost looks for a turnaround season. Frost is just 12-20 overall, including 9-17 in the Big Ten, as he enters a fourth season at his alma mater, where he was hailed as a hometown hero upon his hiring. The school hired former Cornhuskers star linebacker Trev Alberts to return as athletic director. Alberts is the fourth AD at the school since 2012.

Cornhusker fans are starving for wins and championships, which both used to be commonplace for Big Red.

The school hasn’t won a league title since 1999, had only one winning season since 2015 and lost 5 or more games in 5 of the 6 seasons. This is the 10th anniversary of Nebraska joining the Big Ten after leaving the Big 12, and the program has a .533 winning percentage.
