Jake Matthews just got paid as well as nearly any left tackle in NFL history.

The Falcons announced an extension for the four-year pro on Friday. While terms of the deal have not bee disclosed at this time, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports the five-year deal is worth as much as $75 million. That contract puts Matthews among the league’s highest paid at his position.

Matthews was the No. 6 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft after protecting Johnny Manziel’s blindside during his Aggie career. Since arriving in Atlanta, Matthews has been a rock for the team’s offensive line, starting as the team’s left tackle since Day One.

With Julio Jones and Matt Ryan locked up for the foreseeable future, Matthews joins an impressive young cast of players on Atlanta’s roster that have their contracts worked out, leaving them to focus all their efforts on a potential Super Bowl run.
