Texas A&M freshman, former 5-star recruit, arrested for drug possession
This isn’t the type of offseason news Jimbo Fisher wants to hear.
Texas A&M is set to begin spring practice this week but it will likely do so with Demond Demas facing some form of punishment as the redshirt freshman receiver was arrested in College Station on Tuesday.
Demas was arrested for possession of fewer than two ounces of marijuana. News of Demas’ arrest was first reported by Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle.
According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, Demas has already been released after posting a $2,000 bond.
Demas signed with Texas A&M after being ranked as the nation’s No. 3 receiver in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He appeared in three games last season for the Aggies but has yet to register any stats for the team.
The redshirt freshman is poised to be one of the breakout candidates for the Aggies during his second season on campus.
Whoops
I posted a long comment proving that J Winston did rape the girl that accused him. It disappeared. Now I just made another long post with the same proof again. It says awaiting moderation. So if it doesn’t show up. Someone is still protecting J Winston!
Negan
Right, SDS is protecting Winston because he bought stock in the website. Oh, and your tin foil hat is crooked.
Just can’t but help but wonder what Negan considers a “long comment”?
The Iliad perhaps.
Lol sounds about right. I was going to word count some of his comments but didn’t have the time or will.
SDS may be doing something smart here in not being a part of a conspiracy theory with only you have the “proof”. Publisher is protecting themselves not Winston.
Wow a collage student caught with pot, must have been a major bust! two whole ounces! I heard he spit on the sidewalk and Jaywalked but they dropped those charges. Another great article by SDS, next week we will see an article about players that received parking tickets, those dastardly law breakers!
its the law Taz. The cops are doing the job they are supposed to. Texas as many southern states have strict mary jane laws. i dont agree with them but its to be followed until it changes. 2 oz sounds like he maybe hustling. 2 oz is alot for personal use
2 oz is excessive for personal use. He is lucky he didn’t get intent to distribute, he certainly would have in some southern states.
It says “Possession of fewer than 2 ounces”. That’s a threshold in the law to change the severity of the crime. He may have only had a roach in his car. We don’t know. In Austin, possession of less then 4 ozs is only a ticket and release offense. In the county just north where I live, Williamson county, it might be life in prison. LOL. Jurisdictions vary widely. Austin won’t even prosecute cases like this. Neither will most local jurisdictions because the law says you now have to show that the substance found in possession actually contains a certain amount of THC in order to be considered marijuana. The tests are overly expensive. The state police control the labs. If he was arrested by state police, they’ll test every time since it doesn’t cost them anything.
“less than”
thanks for clearing it up. i miss the williamson county sheriffs dept on live PD always thought they handled themselves very well. gig’em
If you ask me. Why do all these guys have to be soooooooo dumb? If you’re going to do it. Stop doing it and leaving evidence in the car!!! Stop waving a red cape at the bull!!! They go around with tented Windows and the car stereo playing so loudly the entire neighborhood can hear it. Then they drive by policemen and get even worse many times. All with these things in their vehicles!!!!!
That is just PURE STUPIDITY!!! I’ve never touched the stuff and don’t plan on it. But if you’re going to do it. Why not at minimum act like you have a brain? Because these student athletes owe it to the college that gave them a scholarship. To act more responsibly!!!!
PS. Just my 2 cents!!!!! But actually Florida police break the law more than upholding it!!!! I know Texas isn’t Florida. I’m just saying.
Negan
Negan–You live in a blue state so STFU.
seeing how Jimbo has handled other things before like rape, stealing crab legs i wonder if this guy will get more than stadium runs
Congrats on the most ignorant post of the thread, I have a feeling it will hold the title to the end.
thanks!!
What exactly was ignorant about what he said? Jombo’s discipline problems with Jameis Winston were well documented whether you buy the rape story or not.
Jimbo, was not being snarky honest typo.
Taht stuff has been long forgot by a&m fans
that
Stealing is much worse than smoking weed. Now, if Jameis was smoking those crab legs, now we have a story!
Well documented? Care to share links to those documents? There was so much more to that story and the way the school itself handled it, than simply trying to blame Jimbo. There is a good reason he left FSU and all this nonsense was part of it.
Yes…very good reason…reason number 1 – Candi Fisher …reason number 2/3/4 – Owen Long/Taylor Jacobs/the former Courtney Harrison…reason number 5 – overdrawn credit at the local publix…reason number 6 – excuse Dalvin Cook and jameis but kick off De’Andre Johnson…reason number 7 – free Burger King soda…reason number 8 – BB guns and glass…reason number 9…Winston signing 950 memorabilia items but poor kid didn’t make a cent off of them (I still can’t understand why Richt suspended Gurley for the same thing!)…reason number 10 – 2012 rape magically disappears…reason number 11 – high priced lawyer David Cornwell (see reason number 10)…
Yep, pretty well documented. But hey, in pos Jimbo’s defense someone has to carry on the mantra “winning isn’t everything, it’s the ONLY thing”. What better place than aTm, home of the 24 hour cash machine
Lol, sorry but I couldn’t get past #5.
Having two ozs just means his guy had some super sweet bud this time so he got two.
It starts with the parents. Teach your children! Until the law changes, never carry more than you can eat!
LOL…I’m Cheech Martin and I endorse this message!
N.O. police told us that once while on the causeway between N.O. and Mandeville after they either pocketed whatever we had or threw it in the lake … then told us to scram.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
I will absolutely catch all the flak for this. But I grew up in a household with an alcoholic, and I’d much rather somebody smoke a little pot now and again. Two ounces is either subject to him going in on a good deal or trying to be a petty dealer. Neither of which is a major offense IMO. Being southern I do believe that discretion was lost in this young man. But does it make him a bad person? I for one don’t believe so. I hope he lives up to his potential and supercedes this with excellence on and off the field.
I agree totally..I only hope Jimbo doesn’t give this kid the Jameis reprieve because Desmond is a hail of an athlete, the kid needs good role model type for guidance, I hope Jimbo can be this kind of mentor…
You’ll catch no flak from me.
I would much much much rather be in a room full of 18 year old guys with an ounce of weed than a gallon of whiskey. Any. Day.
Let me clarify….I’m not talking about me participating with them. What I meant was, I would rather have to babysit the room full of stoned 18 year old guys than the room full of whiskey-drunk 18 year old guys.
Leave the participating to a professional, I got this RockyMtnKat
Lol buddy I had a feeling you’d come through.
I’m sure the players he was gonna share it with were bummed. MNF excerpt from Come’On Man!
Wait, possession of marijuana is still a crime in Texas? Lawdy, next topic.
When they figure out the tax revenue it will bring in they’ll let it happen.
Ridiculous isn’t it? It’s almost like this country learned nothing from the prohibition debacle.
Great. The last time we had a RS Freshman arrested we beat ‘Bama, and the guy arrested won the Heisman. Blessing in disguise.
It’s against the law. It’s against the university’s rules about breaking the law. It’s against the Athletic Department’s rules. It’s against the football program’s rules. What is so hard to understand? The saying is that Aggies don’t lie, cheat or steal, or tolerate those who do. So, how about y’all stop excusing/enabling this teenager’s bad behavior?
