Harold Perkins, a 5-star linebacker out of Texas, who committed to Texas A&M earlier this month, has decommitted from the Aggies, according to multiple reports.

Perkins is from Cypress, Texas and ranked the No. 1 linebacker in the country, and the No. 4 player overall in the class of 2022, according to the 247Sports Composite. The news was first reported by Darren Heitner, and Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports has also reported the news, with comments from Perkins’ uncle, Alvin Walton.

When he committed to A&M, he was their 6th 5-star recruit of the 2022 cycle.

“His options are open right now,” Walton told 247Sports. Perkins is taking an official to LSU this weekend.

“I talked to him earlier today, that’s solid LSU,” Walton said.

Florida got an official visit earlier this month, and the Gators and Tigers are going for in-home visits on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Texas A&M remains atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings without Perkins in the fold but they no longer have the No. 1 class of all-time. At the time of his commitment, it was believed that the Aggies beat out LSU and Texas, but the Gators have evidently made up ground.
