Jimbo Fisher is no longer the coach at Texas A&M, according to an Aggies insider.

The embattled coach with a huge contract is expected to part ways with the Aggies as early as Sunday. The decision was made Thursday and reached at the recommendation of the athletics department and president at a Board of Regents meeting, Billy Liucci reported.

While the Aggies beat Mississippi State on Saturday, a 6-4 record in his 6th season was not enough to satisfy the leaders in College Station.

Fisher failed to show dramatic improvement over last year’s 5–7 season, which followed a disappointing 8–4 season in 2021. His SEC record is 27–21.

Pete Thamel of ESPN reported on Sunday that Fisher’s future was discussed heavily in an executive session of a Texas A&M Board of Regents meeting on Thursday. A decision on Fisher’s future is expected in the near future. He’s owed nearly $76 million if fired.

Fisher’s job security has been a popular topic because of his massive contract and significant buyout he has at Texas A&M, where he was a pedestrian 39-21 over 5 seasons.

Fisher brought in Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator this offseason to revive a flagging offense. But the Aggies dealt with multiple injuries at QB this season, and enjoyed a spark Saturday as Jaylen Henderson had a big game in his Aggie debut.

Fisher is 45-25 at Texas A&M, after he was 83-23 in 8 years at Florida State.
