Jimbo Fisher is know for making memorable comments on the offseason talking circuit when he travels around Texas speaking to Aggies clubs.

The Texas A&M coach mentioned TCU in the context of the Horned Frogs falling to Georgia in a lopsided fashion in the national championship. And he did it in in Fort Worth, in the shadow of TCU’s campus.

“They stayed healthy, they had a lot of experience and they got to where they had to get to,” he said, per Carter Karels. “And then when they got to the SEC, it changed, didn’t it?”

It was a light-hearted joke from Fisher, as he recalled how Georgia dominated TCU, 65-7, in the national championship in January. He also admitted that his team could learn a lot from what TCU accomplished last season.

“They found those inches. We let them slip,” Fisher said. “In 2020, we made all of those plays. In 2022, we didn’t make those plays. They made them last year. They found the inches. They found the chemistry.”

Fisher shared how TCU beat Baylor with a field goal as time expired in a fire drill-like alignment on the field. Fisher credited their culture and camaraderie.

“The secret to it is no secret. … There is no coaching you put on it,” Fisher said. “It is about doing what you have to do each and every day to create the habits, so when the pressure time comes, they did.”
