Max Johnson has found a new home. The SEC transfer quarterback is headed to North Carolina to continue his college career.

Johnson took to social media to announce his commitment to Mack Brown’s program. As a graduate transfer, Johnson was able to enter the portal before the undergraduate window opens on Dec. 4.

Johnson will be considered a redshirt junior in 2024, the fifth season of his college career. He spent the past 2 seasons at Texas A&M.

Ahead of the 2022 season, Johnson arrived at Texas A&M from LSU. He appeared in 4 games, making 3 starts, before suffering a season-ending injury. Johnson took a redshirt for the 2022 season.

This season, Johnson appeared in 8 games for the Aggies. He completed 118-of-190 passes for 1,452 yards, 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Johnson also rushed for 2 scores.

At LSU, Johnson started 2 games as a true freshman in the 2020 season, which did not count against his eligibility due to COVID-19. He was a 12-game starter in 2021, Ed Orgeron’s last season with the program, throwing for career highs of 2,815 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Johnson has played in 30 games over 4 seasons, completing 60.5% of his passes for 5,853 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 47-12.
