The Texas A&M Board of Regents called a special meeting for Thursday to discuss matters related to the school’s coaching search.

However, that meeting may end up being used only to come to contract terms with a new head coach, as it appears the Aggies are nearing a hire.

According to reporter Mark Passwaters, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher is expected to take the Texas A&M job, per sources in Tallahassee:

Obviously, that would be a huge hire for the Aggies, as Fisher won a national title with the Seminoles a few years ago.

As we learned on Sunday with the Greg Schiano situation in Knoxville, nothing is final until an official contract is signed. However, it does appear momentum is building for Fisher making the move from Tallahassee to College Station.

If the Aggies can land a coach of Fisher’s caliber to replace the fired Kevin Sumlin, it would be considered a home run by most of the fan base.
