Texas A&M basketball crushed rival Texas on Saturday night 80-60 in a high-profile affair in College Station.

The Aggies are now 12-2 on the season and have already earned a trio of Quad 1 victories on the season.

Zhuric Phelps led the way for Texas A&M in this game with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Phelps, a transfer from SMU, has been one of A&M’s most consistent scoring options so far this season. He’s scored in double figures in 10 of A&M’s 13 games to this point in the campaign.

Texas A&M won by 20 points despite shooting just 2-of-19 from 3-point range. The Aggies won big because they dominated on the interior. They shot 66% from 2-point range in the win, had 11 offensive rounds and out-scored the Longhorns 48-16 in the paint.

Offensive rebounding has been a key strength for the Aggies for awhile now, but it’s arguably their best attribute this season. They rank No. 1 nationally in offensive rebounding rate, per KenPom, at just over 44%. A&M is up to No. 11 overall in KenPom’s national rankings as of Sunday morning.

Texas A&M will be in action again on Wednesday against Oklahoma in Norman.
