Texas A&M’s coaching search is heating up as Bruce Feldman believes that Dan Campbell would be a great candidate.

Campbell currently coaches the Detroit Lions, who are 7-2 and 1st in the NFC North.

Campbell played for the Aggies during the 90s and Feldman described the Lions’ head coach as a dream candidate on Wednesday’s version of The Rich Eisen Show. However, it’s unlikely that Campbell would leave.

“If you’re a Texas A&M diehard, your dream candidate is the guy who’s got the Detroit Lions rolling,” said Feldman. “Every time you see Dan Campbell in a locker room talking to his team, you’re like, ‘Holy Cow. That guy, that’s the guy who should be the head coach here.’ He’s also the guy that might make a playoff run, the timing’s awful. You’re not getting him to leave.”

The Aggies reportedly reached out to Campbell about the job and the former Aggie turned it down, according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

Other realistic options in Feldman’s eyes for Texas A&M are Duke HC Mike Elko and Kansas HC Lance Leipold.

Elko used to be a defensive coordinator in College Station and fans would know him well. Leipold doesn’t have any ties to the SEC, but his name has been thrown around for coaching jobs because of what he’s done with Kansas.
