With Jimbo Fisher’s arrival in College Station, Texas A&M fans can expect to see a fullback on the field more than they have in the past.

Running back Trayveon Williams seemed excited for what this wrinkle in the offense will bring to the running game when he spoke to the media on Thursday.

“That fullback is the guy that’s going to insert through the hole before you, and you got a guy like Cullen (Gillaspia) and you know, he’s excited about contact, he’s looking for it,” said Williams. “He’s excited to go out there and take the edge off that guy and block that guy, so I’m excited to run behind him, I trust him.”

Williams also joked that he and the fullback’s roles could be swapped and that he would have no problem blocking for Gillaspia if need be.

“It can be interchangeable, he blocks for me and at the same time, I can block for him. We work off each other and we both are going to do great things for this team.”

Williams ran for 798 yards and scored eight touchdowns in 2017 after a breakout freshman season that saw him rack up 1,057 yards and eight scores. With the A&M offense switching to a new system, Williams appears confident his numbers trend upward in the coming season.
