Aaron Murray believes that Hendon Hooker should be in New York for the Heisman Trophy announcement.

Many fans and media members were shocked to see Hooker not selected as a Heisman finalist. The 4 finalists are TCU QB Max Duggan, Ohio State QB CJ Stroud, Georgia QB Stetson Bennett, and USC QB Caleb Williams. While on the Zach Gelb Show, Murray said that Hooker deserves to be a finalist over Stroud.

“I don’t think CJ should be in New York right now,” said Murray. “I agree that Hendon (Hooker) should be in New York for the Heisman Saturday Night.”

Murray, the former Georgia QB, went on to say that Stroud “has not had a Heisman-type season.”

Hooker suffered an ACL injury against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Before the injury, Hooker accumulated 3,135 passing yards with 27 TDs and just 2 interceptions. Hooker also added 430 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs.

Stroud finished with 3,340 passing yards, 37 TDs, and 6 INTs. Stroud was far less of a running threat than Hooker, and only gained 74 yards on the ground. Stroud started all 12 games while Hooker started 11, and left in the second half of the 11th game.
