Starting SEC QB wastes no time recruiting Arik Gilbert after freshman enters transfer portal

If you missed the news, LSU star freshman tight end Arik Gilbert has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Gilbert’s decision to enter the portal comes after the freshman opted out of the final two games of LSU’s season. The true freshman caught 35 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers in eight games this season.

While many assume the tight end is headed home to play for Georgia, Gilbert is from Marietta, Ga., the star freshman is going to have the option of attending nearly any program in the country.

Case in point, it literally moments after Gilbert announced his decision, Tennessee quarterback Harrison Bailey started publicly recruiting the tight end.

If you were unaware, Bailey and Gilbert were high school teammates at Marietta High School and led the program to its first Georgia state title in over 50 years.
