Bru McCoy was one of the big transfer pickups for Tennessee in the offseason and on Friday the wide receiver got word that he will be running out of the “T” with the rest of his teammates Thursday night against Ball State.

McCoy, listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, has been well traveled during his college career. He originally committed to USC, but transferred to Texas before the spring. After going through spring practice with the Longhorns, McCoy was back at USC and had 21 catches for 236 yards and two scores in 2020. He missed all of the 2021 season after an arrest and academic issues.

But now eligible, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel told 247Sports that he has big plans for McCoy.

“Guys that didn’t have spring ball, is just getting integrated into what we’re doing offensively,” Heupel said. “Like some of the transfers that we had a year ago on offense, there’s a growth process to understanding how we play. He’s got to soak those things up and be able to handle the tempo, in particular, in a really positive way here early as we get going.”
