Burns has the upside to be one of the top pitchers in college baseball next season. He has a fastball that has reached 100 miles per hour, making him one of the hardest throwers in the country.

However, he lost his spot in Tennessee’s weekend rotation earlier this year. He rebounded from those struggles and became a key player for the Vols out of the bullpen.

This past season, Burns pitched 72 innings and posted an ERA of 4.25 across 18 appearances. He struck out 114 batters while walking just 22 as well.

He joins a Wake Forest team that is coming off of a semifinal appearance in the College World Series. The Demon Deacons’ top starting pitcher, Rhett Lowder, was selected in the 1st round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
