Dalton Knecht continued his monster season Saturday in a 75-62 win over Vanderbilt.

Knecht poured in 32 points in the win over the Commodores, giving him 5 straight games of at least 25+ points. With that performance, Knecht became the first SEC player in the last 14 seasons to accomplish that feat.

He’s the only SEC player since South Carolina’s Devan Downey in 2010 to score 25+ points in 5 consecutive contests.

Knecht has scored at least 24 points in all 5 of Tennessee’s true road games this season. Per Tennessee, over the last decade, the only other players from Power-6 conferences to score 24+ points in 5 straight road games are Seton Hall’s Myles Powell (2019-20) and Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield (2015-16). Hall’s 2019-20 season was cut short by the pandemic. Hield led Oklahoma to the Final Four in 2016 and took home National Player of the Year honors.

Knecht and the Vols are currently in second place in the SEC with a 5-1 record in league play, just a half game behind Alabama for the top spot. At this point in the season, Knecht is a candidate for both SEC Player of the Year and National Player of the Year.

On the year, Knecht is averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 49% from the field, 40.2% from 3-point range and 80% from the free throw line.

Knecht will look to continue his streak of 25+ point games on Tuesday as Tennessee hosts South Carolina.
