Jeremy Pruitt isn’t the only member of Tennessee’s 2020 coaching staff heading to the NFL. Derrick Ansley is heading to Los Angeles as part of the new Chargers coaching staff.

The news was shared by Chargers beat writer Daniel Popper of The Athletic. According to Popper, Chargers defensive coordinator Renaldo Hill mentioned Ansley as one of four members of LA’s defensive staff.

It will be Ansley’s second time coaching in the NFL. He coached defensive backs for the then-Oakland Raiders in 2018 before taking the defensive coordinator position at Tennessee ahead of the 2019 season.

A native of Tallassee, Alabama, Ansley also had coaching experience at two other SEC programs. His first taste of the SEC came in 2010 as a graduate assistant on the Alabama coaching staff, a position he held through 2011. In 2012, he spent one year at Tennessee as defensive backs coach. From 2013-15, Ansley was Kentucky’s defensive backs coach. He returned to Alabama in 2016 as the Crimson Tide’s defensive backs coach.
