Unfortunately, when a coaching change occurs, prospects can lose their spot. Alabama linebacker Matthew Flint knows that all too well as the former Tennessee commit is now looking for a new landing spot following the coaching change in Knoxville.

While technically listed as a Tennessee commit until Sunday night, Flint did not sign with the program during the early signing period. We now know why that didn’t happen.

Flint posted a note Sunday evening thanking Vol Nation for their support while noting the coaching changeover from Butch Jones to Jeremy Pruitt left him to explore other opportunities. Flint currently holds offers from SEC schools Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Here’s the note Flint posted explaining his position:

Tennessee now has three commitments for the 2018 recruiting cycle (14 prospects have already signed with the Vols), although two of them could be facing similar situations as Flint just went through — neither D’Andre Litaker nor Anthony Grant signed with Tennessee during the early signing period.
