The Tennessee Volunteers finally got their new head coach in place the week before National Signing Day, which will be held on Wednesday.

Former UCF coach Josh Heupel has taken over the reins of the program and is assessing the 2021 recruiting situation. Unfortunately, that reportedly involved pulling a scholarship offer from 3-star WR/ATH Roc Taylor out of Oxford, Alabama.

Per AL.com, Taylor’s high school coach, Keith Etheredge, said the Vols pulled the offer from the longtime Tennessee commit the day before National Signing Day:

“That is bush league,” Etheredge said. “It’s just really crappy because Roc has been nothing but loyal to them.

“It’s such a frustrating situation. When kids do the right thing and then coaches come in and do something like this to a kid … unbelievable. Some coaches get mad when a kid changes his mind at the last second. Well, it’s hard to hold a kid accountable for something you are not willing to be accountable for yourself.”

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Taylor is the No. 27 athlete in the 2021 class and the No. 15 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.

Sounds like Heupel isn’t exactly making great first impressions on some high school coaches, particularly in Alabama.
