Tennessee officially lost another player to the transfer portal. Head coach Jeremy Pruitt revealed during his press conference Wednesday that linebacker Will Ignont “has left the team for personal reasons.”

Ignont is one of three players to leave the program this week. On Tuesday, reports surfaced that linebacker Shannon Reid and wide receiver Jacquez Jones had both entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Fortunately, Tennessee has a bye week to regroup from these losses. The Volunteers will need it, as they just lost by 31 points to the Florida Gators and the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs come to Knoxville a week from Saturday.

Also during his Wednesday press conference, Pruitt called this year’s Bulldogs team “probably one of the best Georgia teams” that he’s seen and was highly complimentary of quarterback Jake Fromm. Pruitt called Fromm a winner, said he could make all the throws and added, “no doubt he is leading that team.”

Here’s what else Pruitt said in his press conference on Wednesday:

  • On image and likeness for the players: I don’t have enough information on that to form an opinion on that
would you have wanted that as a player: You know, in my playing days. I don’t know if we had games that we played like that.
  • On self-scouting this week: Starting offensively, we have improved each week. One thing that has hurt us is turnovers… we have got to improve there, we have some young OL that have played well. I think we are improved at the TE position… we have got to get the ball out and get it to our playmakers.
  • On defense: There are not a lot of breakdowns, there is one person here, no person there. We have yet to give up a play due to lack of ability… something that has been positive is our special teams
