Josh Heupel provided updates on a trio of Vols who missed Tennessee’s Week 3 matchup against Florida last Saturday.
Meeting with reporters Thursday, Heupel noted that Doneiko Slaughter “should be available” for Week 4 against UTSA. He also noted that Gerald Mincey and Cooper Mays have practiced with the team and noted Mays is a game-time decision.
As for Mincey, Heupel explicitly stated that he will play this Saturday against the Roadrunners. As for whether or not he will play on the offensive line after playing only special teams last week, that remains to be seen. Mincey’s unorthodox offensive suspension stems from an arrest last Thursday where Mincey was cited with simple possession.

Slaughter didn’t play last week at Florida.

At the very least Slaughter’s return to the lineup is something Vols fans can take solace in. Slaughter’s physicality was missed against the Gators and should help a Vols squad that could or could not be facing star UTSA QB Frank Harris, who is questionable for Saturday’s game.
The Vols’ Week 4 bout is set to kick off at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
