Mike Keith is coming home to Rocky Top.

Keith, a Tennessee alumnus, has been announced as the new Voice of the Vols. He is leaving his position with the Tennessee Titans to return to his alma mater and succeed the retiring Bob Kesling. Keith will call Volunteer football and basketball games beginning in fall 2025.

The big news was first announced on social media.

Kesling announced his retirement in November. He will sign off at the conclusion of the 2024-25 men’s basketball season.

When we discussed potential candidates, one name topped our list without question: bringing Mike and his family back to Rocky Top,” Tennessee athletic director Danny White said in a released statement. “He is a true icon in the broadcasting industry, and we are excited to harness Mike’s exceptional skill set to further elevate both the Vol Network and Tennessee Athletics in bold, innovative ways.

Keith has been active since 1984, including coverage of the Vols in the late 90s. Since 1999, Keith has been the play-by-play voice for the Titans.

Keith’s career highlights include being named Tennessee’s Sportscaster of the Year 11 times from 2000 to 2023 and being inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame (2020) and Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame (2021).

While it is very hard to say goodbye to the Tennessee Titans, it is not hard to say “yes” to a return to the University of Tennessee and the Vol Network,” Keith said via Tennessee.

“I am excited to join this entire team in hopes that I can add a solid contribution. It is great to be a Tennessee Volunteer, especially in 2025!
