Nico Iamaleava committed to play for Tennessee in March, easily the biggest recruiting win thus far in the Josh Heupel era. The 5-star quarterback, ranked as a top 5 player nationally regardless of position, will soon make things official with the Early Signing Period just months away, but before then, there’s still plenty of high school ball left for him.

Iamaleava and his Downey (Calif.) Warren team on Friday took the short trip to Lakewood to face Mayfair. And Heupel was in attendance as the Bears romped to a 54-7 win.

It was a dominant 1st half for Iamaleava, too, as he threw a total of 5 touchdowns. That’s a good way to make your future college coach happy.

Later in the game, Iamaleava’s younger brother Madden, a sophomore and emerging quarterback recruit in his own right, came in with matters well in hand.

Warren is now 5-1 on the season. It is back home on Thursday to play Paramount.
