Phillip Fulmer clears the air on his relationship with Steve Spurrier

Phillip Fulmer cleared the air about his relationship with Steve Spurrier as the Tennessee legend was a recent guest on the Saturday Down South podcast.
Fulmer covered a host of topics on the podcast, including Deion Sanders’ recruiting efforts, Spencer Rattler’s transfer to South Carolina, and the 1998 Tennessee Vols.
But one of his more interesting comments was about his former SEC East rival, and Fulmer offered some insight into their relationship.
“Everybody thinks Steve and I are bitter enemies, and we’re really good friends,” Fulmer said. “I kid him all the time. ‘You’re a really good guy until someone puts a microphone in front of you and then you’re a bit of a prick.’ But we’re actually good friends … I kid Steve that I ran him out of college football, but that’s in jest.”
Fulmer’s comments come at about the 1:22:00 mark of the podcast.
