It appears Tennessee has focused its coaching search on Purdue’s Jeff Brohm and may be close to a deal in what has been a busy week for the Volunteers.

Tennessee appeared ready to hire Greg Schiano on Sunday before that deal fell through. Since that time, a number of names have been mentioned as possibilities for the opening. It was even reported that the Vols made a serious run at Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy before he turned down the position Tuesday.

The search is still ongoing, but it is now being reported that Tennessee is close to a deal for Brohm who has finished his first year at Purdue.

Jimmy Hyams shared the story:

Brohm took over a Purdue team that had not won more than three games since 2012 and made immediate improvements. The team finished 6-6 and remained competitive in games against Louisville and Wisconsin while also knocking off Missouri by a score of 35-3.

Brohm arrived at Purdue after posting a 30-10 record over three seasons with Western Kentucky.
