Tennessee’s “Smokey Grey” uniforms were worn 4 times in the 2010s, but haven’t made an appearance since 2017.

The Volunteers first donned the threads in a comeback win over Georgia in 2015. They then wore them twice in 2016: against Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to improve to 4-0, then again in a win over Nebraska in the Music City Bowl. The last appearance was in 2017 at Georgia, and any hopes of beating the Dawgs in their own house instead turned into a 41-0 rout for Kirby Smart’s group.

But the Smokey Greys are coming back on Saturday as the Vols visit LSU. The program announced on Monday that after that, the Nike-designed uniforms will be updated and worn at least 1 time in each of the following three seasons. It’s exciting news for Tennessee fans who liked the unique look but were longing for its return.
