The Tennessee Volunteers made some big additions to their defensive line on Wednesday during National Signing Day, but perhaps the one who could play right away is JUCO DE Emmit Gooden.

Gooden is a 4-star JUCO defender from Independence Community College, and the 6-4, 295-pound Tennessee native is a huge get for new coach Jeremy Pruitt.

Gooden chose the Vols over a pair of other big-name schools in Arkansas and West Virginia:

According to the 247Sports composite, Gooden is the No. 7 JUCO defensive tackle in the class of 2018 and the No. 4 overall JUCO recruit from the state of Tennessee.

If he can step in and play right away, the Vols’ defense could make a quick improvement in 2018 with the former Alabama defensive coordinator in charge.
