Tennessee added some much-needed help al0ng the defensive secondary Wednesday morning to kick off the Early Signing Day.

The Vols ventured out to the remains of the Pac-12 to land standout freshman DB Jermod McCoy, who starred for the Beavers in his first season. McCoy finished 2023 with 31 tackles, 2 interceptions and 7 pass deflections.

McCoy is the 2nd defensive back transfer for the Vols out of the portal, also including Middle Tennessee transfer Jakobe Thomas. In addition, the Vols have added former Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes.

McCoy is an instant-impact type of transfer for the Vols and will play plenty of snaps in a room that lost Tamarion McDonald, Warren Burrell and Doneiko Slaughter this offseason.
