That had to hurt: Tony Vitello shares what he was told following controversial call
Tony Vitello did not hesitate to share exactly what he was told by the SEC Tournament umpiring crew regarding the controversial call that sent the Tennessee-Alabama game to extra innings.
The explanation offered was that the Alabama fielder got hit in a bad area:

Tennessee had started to celebrate what appeared to be a walk-off win but because of the “hit,” interference was called.

With no run scored for UT due to the interference, the game went to extra innings. In extras, Alabama went up 3-2 in the top of the 11th and held on in the bottom half of the inning to pull off the upset.
Tennessee will face Mississippi State in an elimination game Thursday. We’ll see how Vitello’s Vols respond after the frustrating loss.
