Tennessee has earned a commitment from Covington (Ga.) Eastside linebacker Christian Gass.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defender gave his verbal commitment to the Vols on Saturday, picking coach Josh Heupel’s group over Georgia and USC. The Peach State linebacker had offers from more than 2 dozen schools, including half of the SEC.

Gass is a 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 22 linebacker in the class and the No. 31 prospect from the state of Georgia. Overall, he sits at No. 204 in the national player rankings.

He’s a versatile defender, and reports suggest Tennessee has been pursuing him as a prospect who can play outside on the edge as well as off-ball linebacker. Gass possesses solid size and length, and his track background is a plus.

He ran an 11.55 100-meter as a sophomore and a 23.96 200-meter. As a junior last fall, he totaled 68 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and 2 sacks, helping Eastside to the second round of Georgia’s AAAAA playoffs.

Tennessee was viewed as the leader in the clubhouse entering decision day. The Vols hosted him for an official back in June and had been trending toward a commitment. Now that he’s locked in, the Vols are up to 18 known pledges for the 2025 cycle.

Gass is the 10th blue-chipper to join the class, which currently ranks inside the top 10 nationally. You can see his tape below, via Hudl:
