Tennessee has interesting head coach connection with sports agent Jimmy Sexton
It is being reported that Tennessee is close to a deal that would bring in Greg Schiano as the next head football coach of the Volunteers. If true, there is one similar connection that Schiano would share with a number of former UT head coaches.
According to Jayson Swain, Schiano would be the fifth straight head coach of the Volunteers that is represented by sports agent Jimmy Sexton. That list of coaches includes Phil Fulmer, Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, and Butch Jones.
Swain shared the information on Twitter:
This is now the 5th #Tennessee coach in a row that will be represented by Jimmy Sexton. Again, very strong strengths and equally strong concerns/faults.

It should be noted that Jones was originally represented by Trace Armstrong before switching to Sexton last summer.
Fulmer won two SEC Championships and one National Championship with Tennessee but the rest of that list has not produced great results. Kiffin lasted one season before heading to USC, Dooley finished 15-21 over three seasons and never posted a winning year, and Jones could not maintain strong results with the Vols.
Nothing has been made official at this time, and none of this means Schiano would follow a similar pattern of any of those coaches. However, it is an interesting connection to note.
