Tennessee picked up a major prospect in the class of 2025 on Friday afternoon.

The Vols earned a commitment from 4-star edge Mariyon Dye. He also had offers from programs such as Ohio State and LSU, amongst others.

Dye is a huge pickup for the Vols in this cycle. He’s the No. 150 overall player and the No. 14 edge in the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 player from the state of Indiana.

Dye attends Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 270 pounds.

Indiana is not a state that Tennessee has recruited heavily in the past. If Dye signs with the Vols, he would be the first Indiana native to do so out of high school since former 4-star quarterback Tayven Jackson in the class of 2022. Jackson ended up transferring to Indiana after his freshman season.

Dye took an official visit to Tennessee earlier this month. He also made trips to Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue and Miami prior to announcing his decision.

With this commitment, Tennessee is now up to 16 prospects who are in its 2025 recruiting class. The group sits at No. 10 in the national rankings, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Dye is currently the second-highest ranked defensive recruit in Tennessee’s class.

Here are some highlights from Dye’s junior season of high school ball:
