Tennessee reportedly added to its wide receiver ranks through the transfer portal on Thursday, gaining a commitment from former Tulane standout Chris Brazzell.

Brazzell signed with Tulane out of the 2022 class and redshirted his 1st year on campus. In 2023, he made an immediate impact, making 44 catches for 711 yards and 5 touchdowns en route to all-conference 3rd team honors in the American Athletic Conference.

He comes from a rich football bloodline: his father, also named Chris, was a former NFL wide receiver with stints with the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys before spending 7 seasons in the CFL. Willie Fritz, the younger Brazzell’s head coach at Tulane, was also the elder Brazzell’s head coach at Blinn College in the 1990s.

It’s another key addition from the portal for Josh Heupel and Tennessee, who have now gained the services of 4 commitments. That includes former 4-star recruit and ex-Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, Oregon State CB Jermod McCoy, and Middle Tennessee defensive back Jakobe Thomas.
