The atmosphere couldn’t have been much better in Knoxville as the Tennessee Volunteers took down the Alabama Crimson Tide, 52-49 in Neyland Stadium on Saturday.

Of course, fans stormed the field and caused a scene (and who could blame them after a win as huge as that one and snapping such a long losing streak against a team that has dominated just about everyone in the college football world over recent history).

Tennessee president Randy Boyd was recently asked how much the torn-down goalposts would cost to fix. And his response was perfect.

“It doesn’t matter,” Boyd said simply.

And it shouldn’t as Tennessee was able to climb in the rankings this week and is now being talked about as a potential contender for both an SEC and a national championship moving forward in the midst of what could be something that turns the tide in the college football standings for years to come.

Tennessee will face UT Martin up next on schedule before going up against a slate of opponents that include Kentucky and Georgia.
