Neyland Stadium is going to look much different to start the football season.

Tennessee announced on Tuesday that football attendance will be limited to 25 percent capacity to start the season, however, the school noted “capacity restrictions could change as the season progresses, based on statewide virus data and evolving recommendations of public health officials.”

Given Neyland Stadium’s massive seating capacity, that decision means just over 20,000 fans will be allowed to attend Tennessee’s home opener against Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 3.

“I can’t overstate how much I empathize with the thousands of fans who won’t get to experience gameday in Neyland Stadium this fall,” Tennessee Director of Athletics Phillip Fulmer said in a released statement from the school. “These circumstances are beyond our control, and we understand the importance of playing our part to keep our community healthy. For those who will be with us in the stadium this season, please know that we are committed to creating the safest possible environment in and around Neyland Stadium.”

According to Tennessee, students and active Tennessee Fund donors with season tickets will be given priority when it comes to the tickets handed out this fall.

The Volunteers are set to host five games this season, the Missouri home opener, Kentucky on Oct. 17, Alabama on Oct. 24, Texas A&M on Nov. 14 and Florida on Dec. 5.
