The lead up

SDS News: Jeremy Pruitt open to playing 2 quarterbacks against West Virginia

Tennessee entered game-week prep without naming a starting quarterback. Part of the reason behind may be because Pruitt is open to playing multiple quarterbacks against WVU.

“To me, it’s hard enough to get one quarterback,” Pruitt said in a recent interview. “If you can get one quarterback, that’s great. If you can have two or three, you need to give them an opportunity.”

SDS News: Kirk Herbstreit picks Tennessee to upset West Virginia in season opener

Kirk Herbstreit let one pick out of the bag before ESPN “College GameDay” aired Saturday. Listeners to his podcast found that Herbstreit likes the Vols to upset West Virginia in Charlotte.

“Poor old Tennessee, they’ve got a new coach, nobody knows any of their players, and they don’t have a chance. Be careful, Tennessee sneaking around. I think Tennessee upsets West Virginia in Week 1,” Herbstreit said on the podcast. “Don’t be shocked if in the third quarter you’re watching that game and ‘ol Tennessee is not only within striking distance, they may have the lead. I think they get it done for Jeremy Pruitt in Week 1.”
