Tennessee's recruiting momentum continues as Vols land commitment from No. 1 JUCO running back Tiyon Evans
Tennessee’s incredible run on the recruiting trail isn’t slowing down anytime soon as the nation’s No. 1 junior college running back has joined the program’s 2021 recruiting class.
Hutchinson Community College standout Tiyon Evans announced his pledge to join Jeremy Pruitt’s program on Thursday. Evans is the fourth commitment the Tennessee program has landed since Sunday. Tennessee’s class now contains 14 prospects and ranks as the No. 5 class in the nation.
“After a conversation with my mom, my brothers, and my girlfriend, I decided that Tennessee is the best fit for me and has some great opportunities,” Evans posted online. “I wanna say thank you to all the coaches that recruited me, also wanna thank my head coach and position coach for putting their faith and relentless effort in me. Also, I just wanna thank the man above for answering my prayers and opening my eyes to the bigger picture. With that being said, I’m excited to say that I’m officially committed to The University of Tennessee.”
The 5-foot-9, 225-pound South Carolina native is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 1 junior college running back and No. 3 overall junior college prospect by 247Sports. Evans does not yet have a composite recruiting ranking.
Based on his junior college highlight reel with Hutchinson Community College, Evans has an elusiveness to his game that will help Tennessee on the field in the years to come.

I didn’t count his touchdowns. I counted how many times he was tackled to the ground during the 4 minute highlight reel. (2) He broke so many tackles!
Nice pickup. Good looking back. Welcome to Big Orange Country Tiyon! and welcome to what is shaping up to be a very nice recruiting class.
This Athlete reminds me of the type of back that Phil Fulmer used….
5′ 9″ low center of gravity…a straight North/South back. Jeremy Pruitt
is sure filling the pot with some good kids…hopefully they can be stirred into SEC-caliber Football Players. The future’s looking brighter in Knoxville all the time.
