Leading up to gameday on Aug. 28, our in-house uniform expert Brad Crawford will look at every SEC team’s apparel plans this season. Some programs are incorporating new alternates while others have made subtle alterations to helmets. We have our favorite looks and we’re sure you do as well.

Here’s a team-by-team glance at what you’ll see this fall:

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS (ADIDAS)

  • 2014 HOME: White helmet + orange jersey + white pants OR White helmet + orange jersey + orange pants
  • 2014 ROAD: White helmet + white jersey + white pants OR White helmet + white jersey + orange pants
  • 2014 ALTERNATE: White helmet + grey jersey + grey pants — Tennessee’s go-to alternate last season was its ‘Smokey Grey’ TECHFIT uniforms after their grand debut in Knoxville came against Georgia. The ‘VOLS’ wordmark on the chest was a nice touch along with the state outline above player names on the back. Jersey numbers featured a checkerboard pattern inspired by Tennessee’s end zones.
  • WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE: Matte orange helmet (w/ grey Power T) + grey jersey + orange pants would look spectacular if executed with precision in Adidas’ final season. Tennessee’s new contract with Nike begins in July 2015, so it’s now or never for the three stripes brand to experiment with the Vols’ primary logo and varying uniform combinations. Butch Jones is open to uniform changes as long as Tennessee doesn’t bring back the horrid Halloween black + orange ensemble donned against South Carolina during Lane Kiffin’s only season in 2009.
