Josh Heupel does not yet have a full staff on Rocky Top but following the hire of defensive coordinator Tim Banks, formerly of Penn State, it won’t be long before the first-year Volunteer coach has his staff finalized for the 2021 season.

Tennessee recently announced the hires of Heupel’s entire offensive coaching staff, along with Banks, and now contract figures for the six assistant coaches have been released.

Each of Heupel’s coordinators have been given three-year contracts in Knoxville.

To pry Banks away from Penn State, where he was the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for five seasons, Tennessee will pay its new defensive coordinator $1.3 million in 2021, $1.4 million in 2022 and $1.5 million in 2023.

Alex Golesh, Tennessee’s new offensive coordinator and tight ends coach is set to make an average of $750,000 annually on his three-year deal.

Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee is set to also make $750,000 annually but is on a two-year deal. Running backs coach Jerry Mack is set to make $400,000 annually on a two-year deal. Receivers coach Kodi Burns will make an average of $362,500 on his two-year deal. Finally, quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle will make $350,000 on a two-year deal.

Tennessee is expected to announce the hiring of defensive line coach Rodney Garner in the near future but his addition to Heupel’s staff has not yet been officially announced at this time.
