Jaydon Blue and Texas felt pretty comfortable in Saturday’s College Football Playoff game against Clemson. However, the Tigers provided major signs of life in the 2nd half.
Coming out of halftime, Texas held a 28-10 lead and pumped it all the way to 31-10 midway through the 3rd quarter. Then, Clemson came alive behind star quarterback Cade Klubnik.
Instead of folding, the Tigers rattled off 14 straight points to make it a one-possession game with 11:43 left in the game. Fortunately, Texas did not panic.
The Longhorns needed just 2 plays to get back on the board, handing the ball off to Blue on 2nd down. The blocking opened up a massive hole with Blue hitting it at full speed and rolling 77 yards for the game-changing touchdown.
Instead of Clemson getting a stop down 7, it will be Texas pushing the lead back to 14 points at 38-24:
Steve Sarkisian and Texas are not out of the woods just yet. Clemson will have around 8 minutes left in the game to try and erase the 14-point deficit, and the Longhorns have had trouble slowing down the Tigers in the 2nd half.
We’ll see who pulls out a CFP win and advances to the quarterfinals.
