Jeff Banks knows a thing or two about playing in Tuscaloosa after spending time on Nick Saban’s staff. However, as a piece of Steve Sarkisian’s Texas staff, he is undaunted by a return trip to Alabama with the Longhorns.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday, Banks was asked about the message he’ll deliver to the team regarding the road trip to Alabama. Banks said he’ll tell the Longhorns they’re “Just going to play another road game.” He also said it will be “just as hard in Kansas and Iowa State” and that Bryant-Denny Stadium is “just bigger and more people.”
Texas special coordinator Jeff Banks was asked what he’ll tell his team about playing at Alabama, where he previously coached: “We’re just going to play another road game. Just as hard in Kansas and Iowa State as it is going to be in Tuscaloosa. It’s just bigger and more people.”

Of course, part of Banks’ message is probably related to looking for consistency from his team. In order to maintain success, it’s important for the Longhorns to treat every opponent the same throughout the course of a season.
Then again, a road trip to Tuscaloosa is hardly the same as playing Iowa State in Ames. The Crimson Tide have not lost in Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2019, and that was a 46-41 thriller to a Joe Burrow-led LSU team that won the national title.
