Texas roasted as 'soft' following removal of 'Horns Down' shirts in BYU student section
Texas is well-accustomed to experiencing the “Horns Down” gesture from rival teams and fans, and BYU’s student section took things to a new level on Saturday.
During Saturday’s game between the Longhorns and Cougars, students in the front row of BYU’s student section donned shirts spelling out “Horns Down.” However, BYU insider Mitch Harper reports those students were asked to remove the shirts at the first media timeout of the game.
Here’s how the student section looked before the removal of the shirts:

It’s unclear where the request originally came from. However, social media had a field day with the potential idea that the Longhorns initiated the request for the change of attire.
Some fans pointed to Texas being “soft” for the idea of requesting rival fans not to wear “Horns Down.” Others also noted the Longhorns are not ready to be in the SEC next season if something like the shirts at BYU truly bothered the program.
Again, it’s unclear if Texas said anything at all about the shirts or requested BYU to address the situation, but the optics had fans going crazy:
Texas is the softest bunch of softies. horns down wouldn’t even be that fun if we didn’t all know how much it pisses them off https://t.co/2yUM6sB00x pic.twitter.com/GECueDNEDD

This is really good if it was an op by Brett Yormark to make Texas look like babies and really weak if it’s anything else https://t.co/2TTt0wT0DT

Can’t believe it took 4 minutes for law enforcement to intervene. How are grown men supposed to compete amid such persecution? As a civilized society, we must raise greater awareness.
You should be ashamed, BYU. https://t.co/XuX55YBCMo
