While Bret Michaels may be most know for being the lead man of the band Poison, he’s also known for being a big college baseball fan.

The Commodores just captured the program’s second College World Series title under head coach Tim Corbin and one player in particular has something especially joyful occurring in his life outside of the baseball diamond.

If you don’t know the story, Vanderbilt pitcher Tyler Brown has a daughter named Isabella that was born with Down syndrome and a serious heart condition. Following Isabella’s latest heart surgery in April, Brown received word that his daughter would not have to endure another such procedure for the foreseeable future. That was the second such surgery of her young life.

After Michaels learned of Isabella’s story, the famous musician pledged to donate $10,000 to the charity of choice in her name.

Brown and his Vanderbilt teammates are likely living life on cloud nine following the team’s championship run but there’s little doubt all the good news surrounding Isabella has elevated the Commodore pitcher to a level few could ever experience.
